Purl Terms of Use
Last updated: 6 July 2026
These terms cover your use of Purl, a knitting and crochet companion app. They are written in plain language. By installing or using Purl, you agree to them.
Purl is intended for a general audience. If you are a minor, use Purl with a parent or guardian's permission.
The app is free
Purl is free to use, with no locked features and no ads. You may use it for your own knitting and crochet as much as you like. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app; we do not sell you the software itself.
Your data is yours
Everything you put into Purl stays on your device. You are responsible for your own content and for keeping your own backups. Purl gives you backup and export tools, but because nothing is stored on a server, we cannot recover data for you if a device is lost, reset, or the app is removed. See the Privacy policy for what Purl does and does not do with your information.
Optional tips
Purl has an optional "Support Purl" tip. A tip is a voluntary gift to support development. It unlocks nothing, every feature stays free whether or not you tip, and there is nothing to receive in return. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store under their terms; refunds follow that store's policy, not ours.
The stores
Purl is distributed through Google Play and, in time, the App Store. Your use of those platforms is also governed by their own terms. If anything here conflicts with a store's required terms for apps, the store's terms apply for that store.
No warranty
Purl is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We work to make it correct and reliable, but we cannot guarantee it is free of errors or that it will fit every purpose. Your projects, counts, and notes are a helpful aid, not a substitute for your own judgement while you work.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of data or other loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, Purl. Because Purl is free, this limit is a condition of it being offered at no cost. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date above is updated and the new version is posted at the same address. Continuing to use Purl after a change means you accept the updated terms.
